Cabella's/Uberti .45lc ?
« on: May 25, 2011, 11:14:15 PM »
A fella at work has one of these and it reminds me of the one I saw years ago in what I think was Cabela's catalog. Flat black, brass trigger guard, and i'm guessing its a 4.5" barrel. He originally sold it to a another guy at work for $300 who so far has only made one payment of $25 ( ;D).

Now he's offering it to me since he needs the money now and planning on giving the other guy his dinero back. Besides bad relations with the other employee, i'm wondering if its actually a Uberti Cabella's sold and if its worth the $300. Its hardly been shot btw and looks like its just out of the box.

Opinions?

I remember Cabels selling those fugly SA sixguns for $199.00 when they were introduced. A pal of mine bought one and it shot very well indeed, was well timed, and of all things, IT SHOT TO THE SIGHTS !!

Gunsmith buddy of mine just bought one at Cabela's this last December if memory serves.  He loves it and it too shoots to sights with the factory ammo we fed through it.  Nothing too powerful, just std. level loads.  8)

Those Cabellas Uberti's are exactly the same gun as all the Uberti 1873 clones the only difference between the expensive ones and the cabella ones is the finish.  Cabella's had a bunch that they ordered with bead blasted and blued finish.  This cut out all the polishing and color case hardening they do on their standard models but for all practical purposes they are the same gun.  They were selling new for around $260 when the fully finshed ones were about $100 higher in price.  As the fully finished ones now go for over $400 new a like new bead blasted one at $300 is a fair price.  Not a great price but not overpriced.

Cabela's is where I got mine.  I believe it's called the "Milennium" finish.  Numrich used to sell a matching 45acp cylinder so I picked one up.  I also added the lanyard ring.  It's been a great gun with no problems.  Hard to say about the co-worker etiquette.  How long ago did he put down the $25?  Maybe your buddy should give the guy a chance to pay in full before he offers it to you?  $300 is an okay price.

My brother bought two when he first started Cowboy Action.  Both were nice, but a little rough in the action.  Last year he sent them to Bob Munden for an action job, and they are slicker than greased owl snot now.
