new ammo

i have came across .22 ammo that is like a shot shell. it has little bbs in it   i forgot the brand but has anyone used these

There are a few different types, some have blue plastic caps on the end, and another popular kind is crimped brass and looks like long blanks.  Pretty much worthless, since most 22's are rifled barrels, it spreads out wide very fast.  You can usually hit  a pop can within 20 or so feet. Most people refer to them as 'snake loads'.  They are good for exactly that, if you are hiking and you suspect snakes, they are very effecive shooting 6-10 feet in fron of you on the trail.  They certainly will scare of kitty kats at the chicken coop.

The original term was rat shot. They were made for shooting rats in barns, don't go thru the walls and hurt other things. I used to clear wasp nests from the eaves of my old 2 story country house with them. They do mess up the paint some, tho.
