I get a kick out of the Tourist every year. Some one will take their little dog for a walk in either Valdez, Seward, Homer, or Haines. Eagle will swoop down and doggie becomes food for the baby Eagles. If the dog is on a leash it becomes a tug or war for the dog. Sometimes the people win, sometimes the Eagle wins. Dogs that survive, you are not getting them back outside.
Met one couple down in Homer once. The woman was appalled that we let those birds pray on small dogs. We should do something about it. If she had not had a good hold on the leash her little dog would have been carried away. The little dog was injured as it was. And still in shock over getting grabbed by the big bird. After she walked away her husband had a lot more to say. He wished the Eagle had won. Darned Dog is so paranoid it won't go outside any more. Potty training right out the window. Dog won't go outside, they have to pick it up to get it out of the motorhome. If they put it down it gets between their feet and won't come out, or it runs under something like a car or motorhome and won't come out.
