I have never been a big fan of Glocks but just recently bought my first, a Gen4 G22. It was suggested to me to buy a G23 for concealed carry but after looking at the specs and figuring in I already had a .22 LR conversion kit for a G22 and the availibilty of 9mm barrels I ordered a Gen4 G22. It has been great with both the .40 S&W barrel and the 9mm Lone Wolf conversion barrel (I bought some 9mm magazines to go with the barrel) and the .22 conversion is coming along. The .22 conversion unit still has occaisional light firing pin strikes and FTF's but I think I can get it to work well.
I HAD to get a Grip Force adaptor to correct the funky European style bent wrist angle of the Glock grip (I am used to 1911's and american style semi autos) and it is now much more comfortable to use and easier to hit on target with. There is a learning curve but it is gentle and doable.
I like the Gen4 G22 so much I have ordered a Gen4 G30. I will also be getting at least one G21 magazine to carry as a backup ammo supply (AND a Grip Force adaptor). Until I get and shoot the G3o with the 9 and 10 round magazines I do not know which I will keep in the gun for CC but I am certain I will carry the G21 mag as a backup ammo supply. I may get a Lone Wolf replacement barrel for the G30 so I can shoot my lead reloads for practice. Glock recommends against the use of lead bullets with the ploygonal rifling.
Glocks are a different breed and some don't like them but no one says they are not reliable, and that's what I am after, to go along with the lighter wieght of course. I am not a full blown Glock convert but I liked the first one enough to order another, especially while private citizens can still buy guns....<><.... :)

A Glock 27 would fit in that price range. I have the 26, 9mm, same size. They conceal well & you can use a longer magazine with an 'X-Grip' to get a full size grip is desired. Any longer magazine will fit in a Glock of the same chambering, a Glock 22 mag will fit in a 23 & 27, all 40 s&w.

You can also convert over to shoot 9mm in a Glock 40 s&w. I have a KKM 'conversion' barrel to shoot 9mm in my Glock 23. You just have to use 9mm mags & at the most go to a lower weight recoil spring.

The Glock 30 is the best of the Glock .45s IMO. It''s large enough to shoot like a fullsize and small enough to carry with the proper holster and clothing. It's a gun that will handle as much shooting as you can afford, and be competitive in IDPA. I like the 36 if you want a smaller package in .45acp. It's not as versatile as the 30, but a great carry gun.

edit: I should add, the 23 is my favorite Glock for concealed carry in a belt holster.

Quick heads up on your kahr- I shot a 1911 for decades, using High thumb grip. Every Kahr I've had I, during a run, ended up touching the slide lock, locking her back! I get around this by having the slide lock milled down very thin. During a run, I never use the slide lock, just horseshoe snap the slide back after new mag. When run dry, its not problem to use release the slide lock then. Just saying..good luck to you!
