Nice looking pup. I take it you are a rabbit hunter. Love to hunt rabbits with a good beagle or two.

Nice looking pup. I take it you are a rabbit hunter. Love to hunt rabbits with a good beagle or two.

I do too, but I've got a lot of wolves and coyotes on my acreage, and it makes it more than a little scary.  I lost one six or eight month old pup to them in the past.  I have three new dogs to run and only have til the 31st to do it.  Two adult beagles and a year old feist.  I can run the feist on red squirrels after that because there's no closed season on them.  I like to take out the reds to make more room for the grays and blacks.

ms, Best of luck with the new pup.  If you're going to hunt that sweet pup, I'd start getting him or her used to gunfire now.  It seems to me, the older they get the more difficult to train them.  I've got a ten year old great dane/boxer/pit bull that I inherited about 5 years ago that loves to go with the hounds, but at the first shot, he's home.  All my current and previous dogs were adopted, strays, or dumped off here, I have no idea of their lineage.  I've had some sujperb hunters out of about 20 dogs.  In fact, I only remember one of them that I had a problem with, and she would run deer when she couldn't find a bunny.

:D ;D ;), What a beautiful little dog..hope it is as good a hunter as it is cute.... ;) One of my friends here in Wy. has a beagle and hunts cottontails with it...I had beagles when I was a kid, but since Wy. became home, golden retrievers are my dogs...I still have a soft spot for beagles, they are so happy..
petemi, my girl friend was from Mich.  we spent sometime there this winter..while squirrels were pretty common, and we saw a few deer...grouse were scarce, and we never found a rabbit track..we did spot a big old coyote crossing the road one morning while heading out for a walk...she is from the northern tip of the Lower Penn.  Rabbits seem scarce all over the country...I see a few in town here, but in the hills they are simply not there.. Where I grew up in Pa., you never see  many rabbit tracks on a fresh snow...if you spot a track it is usually in the thickest cover you can fine, or in town, where they must deal with roaming house cats...but I guess that is only one enemy there compared with life for a rabbit in the wilds.... :-\
