redwood trees

i made a trip to california two weeks ago brought back two six foot red wood trees to plant in my yard here in utah these are nice trees. i  know i won't  live long enough to see them really get big like the ones in cal but they are beautiful  trees.i love trees and birds around the place.has any of you planted a red wood?

First off, are your trees costal or giant Sequoia.  In a a proper soil with adequate water these trees may grow two to six feet per year.  In a 20 year period your trees could increase to the height of 60' or better.  The real enemies of redwood are fire, lack of water, and to much foot traffic on the root base.

There is also a tree known as the Dawn Redwood that originated in China.  It is often widely sold as a 'Redwood'.  It is a nice tree but will only get about 60' or so.

i believe it is of the giant family i know they need a lot of water right know its getting plenty the ground is saturated its crazy over 300% of normal and its poring right now.
