I don't collect much of anything except dust but I sure would like to get my hands on another M17 8-3/8" like that first one of yours. I've owned three in my life time I think and I've been kicking my own butt ever since parting with the third one.

I don't even recall why I let it go or in trade on what. I figured it wouldn't be that hard to pick up another. Boy was I wrong. I've not even seen one since except in photos.

Bill, I passed up 2, in the box- 8 3/8" model 48's, about a year ago for $550.00 each and have not seen any since. I really like the Smith 22,s. They feel great in the hand and perform well.

I had an 8-3/8" M48 once long years ago. Nicely accurate but man was the muzzle blast bad. That was in the days before I wised up and started to wear hearing protection. I seem to recall having one with 6" barrel also.

That was my experience too Bill. Sold the Ruger Single Six convertable because of the muzzle blast with magnums.
