Rocky.....in the new #5 Nosler book the 8X57 mauser with the 180 ballistic Tip........ IMR 4064 was the most accurate powder tested. 43 grains was the mild load at 2410fps.......45 grains was the middle load at 2532 fps and 47 grains was the max load at 2636 fps. They got the best accuracy with the 43 grain load. This info is for the 8x57 js with the .323 diameter bullets. No info on the 8x57 j with the .318 diameter bullets. Hope this was of some help.

Woodseye, that was very fast, thanks for the information, this gives me a starting point to work from. (btw I am using the 48A Yugo, in a walnut stock, shoots lead that I cast very well.) Now another question, What does the "JS" stand for?

For 180's:
IMR-4064 From 43.0 grains to 49.1 grains
Remington 9-1/2 Primer
Thsi should be okay for 185's until you get to the upper end.
