M1 Carbine sight question
« on: June 16, 2011, 08:59:59 PM »
I bought an M1 Carbine with an adjustable rear sight that the previous owner took a hacksaw and cut the peep in half.  I guess this was an attempt to make it more like a notch rear sight.  I have found complete sight assemblies on the internet.

My question is, do any of you know of a way to just replace the peep?  If so where could I find that part?  Does anyone out there have a sight that is no good but still has a good peep they would not mind parting with?  I think there is a way I could bend down the edges on the front or back that hold the peep in the slide adjustment and slide out the old and slide in the new, then bend the edges back up.

To me it seems kind of silly to change out the whole sight assembly that otherwise works great because the peep is modified.

Any suggestions?

Don't bother, just buy a new sight and install it.  It is easy to do and looks and works 100%.
