Anybody Running A Suppressor?
« on: June 22, 2011, 07:23:16 PM »
Been kicking the idea around. Would probably go on a .22 centerfire varmint rifle. Guess the main question would be: is one worth the cost/hassle? And what about transporting a suppressed gun in a vehicle? Bet "the man" could cause a driver some grief if he had the urge; I travel a lot between fields I hunt.

we can't hunt with them  here

the bullets shouldn't break the sound barrier

so   a 22 would be quite  anemic

mine  is on a 357 handi......originally on a  9mm

subsinic 38s  are  much quieter than  the 9mm  [never shot a 357 through it]

bigger is better considering  you have  a 1100fps speed limit

a  22lr  could be a consideration......

A suppressor apparently is not legal for hunting in Ohio.

You must have a sales rec with the transfer stamp attached and signed OR a copy of it with your suppressor at ALL times so "the man" would have nothing to complain about if you are legal in other respects.
I know a guy who hunts with a suppressed 223 rem . Nothing bigger than a yote.
If ya can see it ya can hit it !

Last time I talked to an OH Wildlife officer, he assured me they want any coyotes and feral hogs dead by any means. Guess I didn't consider whether that included using a silencer at the time; I'd better check.
Thanks for the heads-up and other info.
