new Skinner sight on an 1895 ???????
« on: June 21, 2011, 12:25:06 PM »
I just bought an 1895G in 45/70. I have a skinner peep on my 336 30/30 and love it. My question is I see there is a sight available now that is .062 lower than the standard peep I have on my 336. I believe it is called the "skinner express".

Does this sight allow you to keep your front sight?

I would like to be able to keep the front hood on my 1895 for the type of thick cover I hunt Bears in to protect the front sight.

When I installed the peep on my 336 I needed a .500 tall front sight to get on target were I wanted and was not able to keep the hood on the rifle.

Thanks

Hello Melsdad,

Yes the Skinner "EXPRESS" is lower by 1/16" than our orig. 1895/336 sight.  The Skinner "TACTICAL" is another .050" lower than the express.  Will they work with your factory front?  Maybe..  :)

Hope that helps,

Andy

Thanks Andy, for the help, and the great sight! I think I have things worked out now.
