First BP Turkey

First turkey with new Pedersoli SxS 10 ga. Range was 30 yds it was bang and lots of flopping. Was glad my shot was a bit to the right,if dead on there would be no head.

Load data:

90 grs Goex FFg (real black)
1 thin OP card
2 Wonder Wads
TUPRW1235 (12ga plastic wad 3.5")
1 1/2 oz NP #4's
1 Wonder Wad OS

Congratulations on the big bird! I'd hazard a guess that your Pedersoli is full choked, is it not? Very few if any original muzzleloaders were choked and that makes a world of difference in effective range. I suspect the plastic shotcup probably helped a bit too.
The story of David & Goliath only demonstrates the superiority of ballistic projectiles over hand weapons, poor old Goliath never had a chance.

Thats cool. I am hoping to get a smoothbore BP gun before next season. I am leaning towards a Northwest Trade Gun.
