ticks are at an in-tolerable level on my place.  What's a good spray / granual application for woodlot and field and lawn/garden tick control??

Read the link above for personal protection.  Ticks are a sign of a healthy game population.  While no fun, they can be managed unless the population is overwhelming.  You can spray it throughout your woods.  It won't have a lasting effect, but it will in the short term.  It is not good to spray around water as it is toxic to fish.  Other non-specific insects will also be affected.  Cheap and effective personal protection is one way to go.

I pose this question because personal protection methods have failed.  I have been laid up for the past 13 days with a fever that ranges from 100 to 104 due to an unspecified (by doctors) tick born illness.  We are finding them in the house, walking across the carpet, climbing the walls, etc.  The tick population is at an excessive and unacceptable level.

thanks for the tips though.

I have been told of a chemical solution to 99% of all bug issues, problem is it takes out 99% of all bugs (including earthworms) and you'll need an applicators license to even purchase it.

Yes Guinie Fowl and to a lesser extent Free Range Chickens and Pheasants will knock a pretty good dent in the problem after a while.  Not nearly as quick a solution as the application of chemicals but its a lot more effective over the long run not to mention a lot better on the environment, not that I am a tofu, bean sprout eating tree hugger...but I do believe in being a good steward of the land to the extent possible.  Id say get a batch of day old chicks and try it on for size.

We agree on all points, now that I am better, and calmer, I am thinking chickens and quail.  I am wanting to release bobwhite quail here anyway.
