Can I ask what you fellow shooters use to remove lead fouling from the barrels and cylinders of your favorite revolvers. I picked up a used GP100 and the previous owner ,shot 38's through it and I can see alot of lead build up . Thanks for your help--1Longbow

I use the Birchwood lead remover cloth. I first clean the barrel and cyl with some cleanimg solvent, I cut small strips of the lead remover cloth ( 3/8" x 3" ) and wrap one around an old brass barrel brush. I run this back and forth in barrel and cyl tell cloth is black. I clean again with cleaning solvent, check for lead and repeat till barrel is clean. Goes pretty quick. Use it on dirty rifles aso. I was show this by Jim Crews.

Either a Lewis tool, available from Midway and others or just go to the grocery store, buy a copper scouring pad, cut it up and put a piece over a jag, preferably a size smaller (30 caliber should be just right).

I have heard that the outers foul-out does a great job. Cost is about $75.00
For a cheaper method ,Check on Veral Smith's section here on shooting cast bullets. Its at the bottom of the page.
Take a bore brush a coupl of sizes smaller. Wrap with a copper scouring pad that has been disassembled . After 6 to 10 passes the lead will be removed-usually. Also, these same folks reccomend that you plug one end of the barrel abd fill barrel with common household ammonia . After a few hours dump the ammonia and clean. Repeat as necessary.

I recently purchased an Outers Foul out III (local closeout table for $50.00).
Its first use was a 41 mag that would not come clean using lead remover cloth patches. It is now spotless.
Only had it a weed but figure on using it a hole bunch.
