Ive had a 44 Marlin for the past 5 yrs and anything I aimed it at didnt like the out come. I bought a 629 2yrs ago for the challenge and it was a blast! My first deer with it 2 yrs ago dropped in its tracks at 50yrds.  For me pistol hunting adds to the challenge of the hunt just like I love to bow hunt because of the challenge. But like its already been said pick the firearm to the turf your hunting. If Im in my blind hunting a open field , I go with my rifle , hanging in the trees I grab my SBH, Encore pistol in 243 or my tender pistol in a 30.30. To be honest I dont even think I will take my Marlin out this year because I have pistols that will cover all of my hunting grounds.  For me theres nothing like getting bambi within 5yrds of you before you drop the hammer!
