Mix and Match for cavities?
« on: June 14, 2011, 03:49:26 PM »
I know you occasionally mention the different options for mixing features in a mould.  I tried a search but came up short.

I'm real sorry if I seem insufferably cheap to everyone, but I am and need to be.  But in my books an LBT mould is the cheapest option.  If I can get 2 bullets from one mould for a small premium I can live with single cavity production.

Custom fit moulds from a bonafide expert at fitting individual rifles and a mould that works out of the box are real value.  I handled my third Lee and wouldn't own one, I don't wish to insult folks as I'm new at casting but not new to evaluation of proper close tolerance industrial machining.  Beside I'm so Scots, Mom was a Highland McLeod, that every time a single cast bullet drops I'll be singing just saved another 35 cents and 40 cents if it doesn't need a gas check.

Just wondering what options for mixing are your standard offerings no special request stuff.

Can a guy or gal get a PB and GC in the same 2 cavity mould?

How about a PB full size bullet and a paper patch smaller size?

How about one light bullet and one heavy bullet?  I picture this would be a real pain to accomplish easily but it never hurts to ask.

Anything you might suggest?

How about bullet quality if only a single cavity of a two cavity is used?

  Thanks for asking.

I make variations is base type, or crimp to nose length, for $10.  I can also do a change in diameter for that much on some bullets, and will answer that personally for any customer who emails the question and tells me what is dreams are.

The most common ones I do are gc and pb, and this is a really nice option on 4 cavity molds, where one doesn't intend to shoot many gc, but want's the option occasionally.

In my personal experiance, molds to cast two different caliber bullets turn into a hate thing real quick, because in most cases one of the bullets will be liked and the other of no use..  Ditto with two different weights in one caliber, which is a common desire for revolver shooters.  I think most customers with these thoughts will be happies if they simply email me with their desires and let me talk them into one bullet weight which optimizes their needs.  This way the sights never have to be changed on the gun, or several guns of a caliber.

My email address is    LBTisAccuracy@localnet.com     Ask for anything you want.  I might do it, and if not, it won't cost you a penny.
