Were Projects Gunrunner and Fast & Furious really meant to track weapons from dealers into the hands of the drug cartels of Mexico? Think about it. The excuse the DOJ and BATFE are clinging to is that the weapons were allowed to "walk" so they could be tracked and used to make a bust on the major players in drug and weapons trafficing in Mexico.
There are only two problems with that excuse.
One, neither the BATFE nor the DOJ have any powers to arrest anyone inside Mexico.
Two, the Mexican government was kept totally uninformed that these operations were going on.
Does that sound like they had any future arrests planned? It doesn't to me. Besides, Asst. Attorney General Welch absolutely denied that the BATFE had any connection to any weapons being deliberately allowed to cross the border when he was first confronted by CBS News. Not a "I can't discuss this" or "That's a classified operation", but outright denial.
What if this was a plan by the current administration and the DOJ and BATFE to provide further evidence of what they were claiming last year; that the majority of weapons used by the drug cartels are from the US and thereby inciting fear and justifying the passing of the "gun show loophole" and "end private sales" legislation that folks like Shumer, Feinstein, Wasserman and McCarthy have been pushing for over a year and are still promoting? Is it just coincidence that at the exact same time that Project Gunrunner and Fast & Furious are happening President Obama is publicly siding with President Calderon of Mexico to both end the flow of weapons into Mexico AND curtail any actions of the States (like Arizona) to enforce illegal immigration laws?
One thing must be taken into consideration. Holder was part of the Janet Reno led DOJ during the Waco incident and, to this day, we have never learned the truth about what happened. However, do you remember the call to arms of the anti-gun lobby immediately afterward?
