REMINGTON MOHAWK A BORING RIFLE

I will say no matter what I put threw it reloaded it will always shoot a group under a .500
wow this rifle the Mohawk 243 cal.  has the 18  1/2 " barrel and can shoot
I tried Remington core-lock 100 gr.
hornady 100 gr.
hornady 87 gr.
sierra 85 gr. HPBT
all shoot excellent.
I just order some Barnes 85 TSX I hope they shoot as good as the rest I tried

I have a Mohawk in 308 Win. Its the same kind of boring as the OP's 243!

When new, the price was right same with the 788. Now you got to look at Savage/Stevens for a similar performer.

Great to hear about the boring accuracy of your Remington.  I've got an SPS Tactical that is the same way.   Not sure if I'm a fan of a .243 with an 18 1/2" barrel though.  Close range you should be more than okay, but the .243 needs a little tube length to really make it shine out at distance.
