Skinner guide gun sight set
« on: August 12, 2011, 03:09:13 PM »

I guess I'll post this here since there is little traffic in the Skinner forum.

I just put this set on my 1895G 45/70. The set comes with a .500" tall front sight. I went to the range and found that I am shooting 16" low! I did the calculations and need a sight that is .183" shorter. Has anyone else ordered this package, and had a similar problem? I expected to make any necessary adjustments with the rear sight, and maybe a small bit of fileing. But .183" seemed to be a bit much so I just made a new sight.

Last year I put the same sight on my 336 30/30. I was shooting 16" high with the factory front sight and a .500" front sight fixed me up just fine so I thought that I would be in the same ball park with the guide gun....guess not!
