264 tang safety group

i finally got to shoot a group with my custom 264 tang safety 77. this was the first group ever and the gun should do better. i am working all weekend and my dad will play with the gun to improve

it was actually a fireforming load. i am working it up with ramshot magnum with the 129 hornady interlock

Honestly the trade that i regret the most tang safety 77 in 264 win mag for a 300 win mag with a leupold 3-9 dies and 5 boxes of ammo, man i wish i had that rifle back! 8)

Matt, what kind of barrel do you have? Looks like you have gotten off to a good start.

thats an impressive group. I wouldnt hold my breath trying to find something that shot better then that out of any sporter weight gun!

I've three tang safety Ruger 77s. One in .243, 25-06 and .308. All three of them are very accurate shooters.

the barrel is a douglas. i am not sure of the bedding, but next year it will get an mpi fiberglass stock and a leupold vx-3 6.5-20 varmint scope. trying to work with 125 partions for this gun right now. we tried the 140 accubond over deer season last year. i got one deer with it and dad used it to get some deer on crop damage. it dumped the deer decisively

The initial results with the 125gr partition are very promising. It is staying between 95 and 100 degrees here every day. Load work ups with Matt's rifle are all done with that in mind. Right now I am getting 3105fps with absolutely no pressure signs with IMR7828. I am well off of max.Groups are running about 1" with this load. I am going to bump the powder up a smidge which should shrink the groups back down to size. So far I am super impressed with this rifle. I haven't got to take a long shot at the depredation deer with it yet but will in the next few days. reflex264

Gatlin used acraglass and bedded the recoil lug, the tang and a few inches in front of the recoil lug. reflex264
