.45LC put a smile on my face
« on: June 21, 2011, 05:57:14 AM »
This was sighting in the new scope on the .45LC at 50 yards after boresighting yesterday.  The last 3 shots are one hole.  I then moved the scope two more clicks left.  This morning I clobbered a pigeon with it at +/- 100 yards.  I'm happy.

An adder:  I walked out to look at the pigeon.  It was every bit of 100 yards.  I had aimed at his head and the factory Rem 250 gr LRN tcok out his neck at the base of the skull.

Sense my 454 rechamber I seldom grab my 45/70's anymore. If I can't handle it with my Handi and Ruger Alaskan I should stay out of the woods

Yesiree Pete, that would put a smile on any Handiholic's face. Good shooting.
Mine is a smile maker too. Makes ya wonder why H&R dropped this one.

Good shootin' Pete. The .45 Carbine barrel I bought here a few months back is a shooter, too. I gave it to my son for his 9th birthday, it locked up perfectly on his Versa Pack frame. He loves shooting .454" round balls over 4.5 grains of Unique, nice and fun for plinking. It put a smile on his face, too!

+1 Mine too!!!

Pete,
I have shot starlings with my 45-70 loaded with a cast bullet at 1100fps. After that, I would never wonder why someone would use a 45LC on a pigeon.  ;) ;D It's just plain fun!

Thanks, Dinny

Does my heart good to see you guys finally coming around...

I have had a affinity for the 45 since I was old enough to know what one was and with the maxi since it came into being in 1983.

Mine is the favorite Handi, even if I haven't shot .454s in it yet.  I just like the feel of it.  Reloading was easy and they shot well.  Easy on my old shoulder too.  Glad you folks twisted my arm so hard to make me get one...

I know Pete when I was working up a load for mine in heavy cover I was looking to stay under 60 yrds with big heavy brush busting cast . Found that it stays in a 3" circle at 100yards with same point of aim. That will put a smile on your face. Kurt

good shootin! My BCC loves 300 gr WFNs around 1100 fps, I put an aimpoint red dot on mine and can swat quart oil jugs at 100 yrds with impunity!
