Can a rifle barrel be recrowned but not cut and left at length it came from the factory with?
I enjoy collecting guns, swaping and staying up on all the newest models. I deer, quail, squirrel and rabbit hunt.

billy,
I surely can.  Typically, only the outer surface of the muzzle has been damaged requiring a recrown.  However, if the bore has been damaged internally as well as externally, as in improper use of a cleaning rod w/o a bore guide, then it becomes necessary to cut the barrel, resquare the face and recrown.
