Ruger #1V
« on: March 31, 2012, 08:22:07 AM »
I got a 1V 223 a week ago Thursday after years of hesitation. A friend showed up about a month ago with two #1s. I shot both, found them to be easy shooters and accurate. I ordered my 1V, thinking that I could try all of the tricks I had read of on the net to make it shoot. Talk about being overprepared... After boresighting, it shoots GREAT with cheap ammo and an unsteady rest. I will load some ammo and take my bench with me next time. I had bookmarked a bunch of different articles, from different sites to be ready to work on the new rifle. I had heard that there were problems years ago and they had fixed them, way to go Ruger! BTW the friend picked up numbers three and four yesterday, number five will arrive next Friday, he must like them!

Congratulations on your decision to get one of the coolest rifles out there!

I've have a 1-V in 22-250 that shoots great also. Got it for coyotes and crows, but shot a few deer and a couple of bobcats with it. Didn't use it much last year because we had a new deer lease with pines so thick you could only see 50 yards, but they have been thinned out so I 'm hoping to see some coyotes moving through the thin pines and let the 1-V do it's thang.  Everytime my eye wanders toward some other small caliber rifle, the resolution is that having one will reduce my 1-V time.

About a year after getting the 1-V, I started looking at 1-RSI porn. Told the wife I would like to have one of those one day. Knowing that I am a muller and agonize over buying anything, she sad "don't wait til your 80, get the thing now". Yes mam. 30-06.
Eventually sold off my other rifles, so if I am hunting with a centerfire, its one of those two #1's.
The difference between people who do stuff and people who don't do stuff is that the people who do stuff do stuff.
