Bulged Barrel?
« on: January 30, 2012, 04:05:27 PM »
I have a 22 with a bulged barrel. The barrel is long so I can cut it off before the bulge and still be plenty long (19 inches) or should I reline the barrel. I will likely sell after I am done it's a store brand 22 single shot, it shoots about popcan size group now at 25 yrds. Any ideas or thoughts are welcome :) Thanks.

it could also be a lil bent at the bulge, so I'd check it with an indicator

lining is time consuming, and unless youre doing it yourself, you'll never recoup that expense

chopping and recrowning is probably what I'd do

Sounds like a perfect trappers gun afterwards

Maker of trappers tools and gear, have an idea?  Let's talk !

As said, cut and re-crown.  There's many how-to's in the faq's here and I'm sure elsewhere too.  ;)

Ditto on the cutting.  Why put the effort in relining if your going to sell it anyway.  I don't think the difference in selling price will offset the cost and effort of relining.
If I agreed with you then we would both be wrong.

Cut and crown it will be. But will wait until spring it appears, had my foot xrayed to day and my jones fracture from last Jan. hasn't healed yet. Sounds like I will be laid up until green grass, I will see the surgeon Friday :(  I may have to sell bunch of guns just to pay for this. I hope not.
