Mixed Emotions

My daughter Tana and I hunted yesterday, the opening day of Tennessee's muzzle loading season. She wanted to sit in the stand alone so I went over the nest hill about 200 yards away. I was sad, proud and happy all at the same time. She's growing up.
We didn't see any deer, but the squirrels kept us entertained.

I'm happy for your both your daughter and you. My daughter carried her rifle to the stand with me for the first time Saturday, and I know the day will come soon when she will also want to hunt on her own stand. I am trying to milk as much satisfaction out of our time together as I can. For now it is the thrill of a lifetime to sit with her in the blind, just as my father sat with me many years ago.
There is no more humbling experience for man than to be fully immersed in nature's artistry.

What a thrill, eh?  I'm trying to interest my 10yr old daughter in hunting.  I'll start her with the 10-22 pretty soon but for now she loves the walks in the woods with me.  Cant wait to sit on stand with her.
