I was interested in them for my 357 max i contacted hornady because i had a question about max velocity with the 140 ftx. The tech told me that 1900 fps is the max impact vel. for them so i have not tried them yet.

I talked to the tech. at hornady also, and he told me about the same thing about max vel., for the max I think I'll keep it at 180 gr. it seems to shoot these pretty good.

Try the Beartooth 180gr WLN+P-GC in your Maximum. It seats a lot shallower than most other 180gr bullets to "maximize" (excuse the pun) your powder capacity. 22.0-24.0gr of IMR 4227 should get your attention. I also suggest a CCI #450 primer.
The 140gr FTX will probably self destruct at Maximum velocities out of a rifle. It almost does from an 8" barrel SuperMag. Hornady designed it for approx. 1850 fps out of a 16" barrel lever-action.

(The Maximum recipe is circa 1984 silhouette data using a Saeco #351 cast @ 190gr.)

I bought a box when they where first offered... haven't found a loading the Maxis like. But haven't tried too hard.

But a word of caution about shooting big game with it at maximum or even Mag from a rifle barrel... Not gonna be your best choice and will come apart above 2K FPS... But for small to mid sized varmints they could be "fun" ;)

I have a nice load for them in my Marlin lever, so pretty much just shoot them outta it... (Max load on H110 and a CCI 550...)

Not really my first choise for deer round, think I'll stick to tried and true 180 xtp's, got these on a whim probably just use them for paper and varmints.
