I've been thinking about selling my stainless guide gun 45-70 an build a 450 bushmaster AR. Or am I just crazy to do such a thing?

Yes.

The good thing about a AR is that you can build it piece at a time without selling a gun in order to finance buying a full AR at once.  It took me about a year to build my AR(223) but I did it without selling another gun to finance it.  I bought a stripped lower first, than the parts for the lower, than the bolt and bolt carrier, and finally a complete upper since I didn't have a barrel wrench and head spacing gauges.  As many good diagrams and instructions that there is on the net its not hard to slap one together plus it's fun to tinker with a gun, by the time your finished you will know the AR pretty well.  If you like your 45-70 keep it and slowly build you a 450 would be my advice, that way you can have both.  ;)

I guess my reasoning behind it is the 450 would serve the same purpose as the GG and i have two other ar platforms a M&P15 that i compete in three guns with and a lr308 that I compete with and hunt with.  I like the AR platform and I guess it is to keep more familar with it. I have a savage ML2 that I like and with it I shoot .452 bullets and the 450 uses the same and would reduce what I have to buy to reload and I have a relative that loads 45 so we can buy bullets in bulk. I also have two friends that have and load for the 450 already. That is just my reasons for pondering. The other hand the GG is already paid for and dies and such are allready around. I also will be able to find ammo for it about anywhere if I ever need to. Still pondering.

there both cool guns. Id have to agree with the other poster. You allready have ars so you can swap lowers until you can afford one specificly for it. Buy the upper or buy it part by part and keep your marlin

i've been thinking and I have to aggree I'm just going to keep the GG and forget about building a 450 mostly only because I have enough on my plate right now and the GG is already in place.
