Time to change concealed carry laws
« on: June 29, 2011, 05:10:57 PM »
There have been several stories like the one below in Chicago, and now Philadelphia. Should concealed carry laws be changed to allow permit holders to fire at will when attacked by a mob? Chicago may not allow concealed carry, but anyplace that does probably won't have many mob problems if theres a bit of herd thinning done on them.

While that would definitely be poetic justice at its finest, and might make more than a few "would be Flash Rob Paticipants" think twice, its not PC and there for will never be allowed after all we are more civilized than that.  I can hear Liberal zeleots screaming now, "You shot him in cold blood for stealing a pack of cigarettes or a six pack of beer from your store"?

On thing is for sure, until there is a real and true consiquense other than a petty slap on the hand and a few harsh words, its not going to stop and will continue to grow and escalate in the level of violence, property loss and damage.

being old and looking like an easy mark is something ive given some thought to..
if attacked by a couple o young thugs ,id be hard pressed to handle them..
in that situation what would you do?
better to be judged by 12 than carried by 6,, is what most around here say..
im interested in what others methods of handleing this would be..slim

I don't want to sound like a homicidal maniac but I have never had a problem with the notion of shooting my way out of a rioting mob and have been forced to do just that twice to survive, once in Panama City, Panama and once again in Rio de Janero.  I will state now that very little quiets the rampant lawlessness of a rioting crowd or mob willing to or having turned violent more than close in gunfire and blood in the eyes, especially if it belongs to the person who was just standing in front of you and women are not exempted; and like most mobs or rioting crowds, it stops them and they will not surge forward to further the attack (least not in my experience) when punkins start poppin' all around you and what makes them pop is steady and aimed.

I am from a very old school which says that I can control any mob with tear gas and any riot with one machinegun and I can tell you that those tactics work, although it is not considered 'pc' these days.

The fool who stands in front of a yelling mob and incites them to attack is the first fool to get shot and that usually makes the others back away, especially if they see you are resolute and willing to defend yourself by leaving more of them dead.  This is not to flame, it is simple fact as I have seen it.

Mobs and rioting crowds adopt the attitude that young girl adopted because nobody who knows them can incriminate them - they feel all powerful.  To the one who say 'what are you going to do' you send the first bullet.  I will admit there is a place for double stack 9mms and carrying a extra magazine although I usually prefer the heavier calibers, but they both work.

I firmly believe that laws should allow for defensive shooting/self defense when confronted by a mob or rioting crowd as there is absolutely no guarantee that they will either let you alone or not stomp you to death just for being in their way and I agree with Conan that a bit of 'herd thinning' oft prevents further rioting occurances.  jmtcw.

Mikey:

I think the new way of mob and riot organization is outsmarting the old ways because they form in a seemingly random way, can do their work, and then disband in a seemingly random way before the cops get there. It's very ingenious and effective.  Truly a game changer for people whose job it is to control riots. Twitter type technology is an amazing tool for this kind of thing. In the case of recent applications of rioting and smart mobs, it often seems to be for the better because people are essentially fighting a repressive government. Of course, criminals are making use of it too. In any case, there's no going back to the old days.

Flash Mobs, teen-aged rioting, imminent threat of bodily harm, these, and other criminal actions, scream concealed weapon in defense of Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness for lawful carrier(s).

"Thinning the Herd" is an excellent remark.  Jailed criminals interviewed are most concerned about B&E into an armed home and the chance of being shot.

Fear for their Life should keep most one-on-one criminal activity in check.  Liberal Courts however have altered that State of Being.  More folks should be armed and the old saying "An armed Society is a polite Society" would reign again.

Leaving out the 'fire at will' part... I think the laws allow you to protect yourself it assaulted.

I'd be cautious of the fire at will bit... but if you're being assaulted, shoot until you're not being assaulted, and escape as fast as you can.
I'm with you mikey.  I'm ready to change this country the bloody way.

Who do you want to kill first?
Jesus said we should treat other as we'd want to be treated... and he didn't qualify that by their party affiliation, race, or even if they're of diff religion.

Many laws are worded such that if you are in fear of great bodily harm or loss of life you are within your rights to use lethal force. 20 yout's with an intent to inflict injury/ vs. 20 yout's wanting free stuff. That is where you make your decision.

Unholstering would be a good idea in my mind. Those flash mobs aren't there to sell Choir candy, but the video tape will reveal the behaviour, and if you are shooting those inner city yout's you will be judged by inner city mom's who know those kids were just turning their lives around, trying to save money for church camp and all.

Who do you want to kill first?

Politicians and lawyers would probably be a good place to start.
