I believe your right hillbi ;) And I don't even ride a Harley...... I had the money saved for my Road King, but then Mother passed and I settled for a jap bike because I refuse to let the bank own any part of what I ride. Just the way I live, debt free.

Hey guys, really no offense intended.  I was responding to swampman, who pretty much admitted that the jap bikes are more reliable, are fun to ride, but that he was worried about what his friends would think.  Me, well I do what I like and don't give a damn about what others think.   ;)

I'm not a biker and have no desire to be one.

i would guess the real definition of a biker is one who prefers 2 wheels over 4.ive known real bikers who rode all diff kinds of bikes.some of the wingers put on many more miles than a lot of hog riders i know includeing me.when i was young, single and had no kids to tote around i rode 2 wheels as much as i could till it just got too cold to do it.heck ill ride with anyone no matter what they ride if they is good people.if i couldnt ride a harley id ride a vintage bike of another brand, if i could not swing that, id ride anything i could get my hands on for sure.

For the most part I see a few million wannabees for every biker.  Look for the 3 piece patch on the back.

a patch dont make a biker.one of the finest bikers ive even known, never wore a patch in his life.he is highly revered in my area and helped a dumb kid keep his shovel runnin when no one else would.he never laid a finger on it but his advice is what made me the mechanic i am today.he is older now and prob my best fishin buddy. i just hope to fish with him again this spring!

You must have great vision and a lot of time. How much time do you spend with those millions of folk to differentiate the real bikers from the wannabees or do you just go with a quick glance and your gut feelin'? ::)

A patch don't make a biker, just like a bike in the driveway don't make you a biker. Most patch wearers I know put fewer miles on their bikes every year than most non-patch wearers I know. Maybe your definition of a biker is based on something different than actually ridin' your bike. Funny, on the way to the Tomahawk rally this year, many of the bikes on trailers had patchwearers ridin' in  the SUV pullin' them. Wannabee patchwearers maybe? ???

Trashing other folk's choice in bikes and callin' folks names like RUB and Wannabee is like trashin' other folk's choices in guns and ammo. It is a sign of someone who is not secure in their own choices. Guess you call them a hopetobees.

My version of a real biker is, a motorcycle "enthusiast". The only rule beyond that is to own a motorcycle, of any kind.

it aint about patches, type of bike, miles put on, passing judgement, or accessories added.
it is about two wheels, living in the moment, enjoying the journey, the places it takes you, and the things you see and experience.   sometimes it is about the solitude, and sometimes the people you meet.

when I rode, it was a yamaha 650.  I kept that thing on the road constantly.   now if I dropped one, I'd have to get help to pick it up.
I made many trips to Fla. and rode along with harley riders a few times. don't remember any of them being ugly about my bike.  they did rib me a little, but it was all in fun.

I state facts.  What people do with them is their business.

Opinions are of no value to anyone but the person to whom they belong.  That's why I don't give them.

I have no desire for credibility.  And if it makes you happy, I'll say yes.  I state facts, what folks do with them is up to them.

.............could be, but I think for the most part, Myron summed it up well with his description.

Stirring the pot or not, calling folks names and belittleing their choices are traits of a third grader. Some folks just never grow up.

No rockers and patch have ever made a biker. Only club members do they make. Only time, miles and loyalty shape a rider no matter what you ride. Talking down to a biker to his face would definitely be a lot different than this keyboard flap crap.  I still don't want a Haji Davidson and hope they don't get back across the water to here.

If the good Lord allows it, in three more years I will have fifty years riding! There have been many metrics along the way that were good bikes, dependable and looked o.k.. But the last 28,000 have been on the FLHTCUI  that I put to bed yesterday. Remember, if it has either two or four wheels, at some point it is going to give you trouble. Mine got new cams last summer! But I'll stick with Harley.
