want to identify these antique cars
« on: July 07, 2011, 11:01:10 AM »
This picture was taken about 1915.  I want to identify the cars in it.  Any suggestions?

I was going to say the front one was a Baker Electric, but it does look a lot like the Waverly.  The other two are of a different manufactor.  Looks like they have tiller steering and front seats no under the top.

I thought they might be electric.  The people in the picture are my great-grandparents and other relatives.  I guess it's hard to tell exactly what they are in the picture.

The second and third cars are different from the one in front.  They don't look like the pictures I remember of the Baker Electric.  I will have to do some research.  masybe we can figure it out.

I found an interesting video on Jay Leno's Baker Electric.  Some people may want to watch so I am including the link.  Rog

Somehow, that peculiar curved shape suggests electric cars; here are some...

Studebaker was an early producer of some of them.

Hay, now that Studebaker looks like cars two and three.  I never knew anyone but Baker built electric cars.  One problem, the men are out in the weather, while the ladies are back in the coach in the dry or shaded portion.

One tack may be finding out what auto dealerships were in town at the time. If it were a small enough town it could narrow the field a bunch.

That's a good idea.  We are a small town.  Thanks
