Fires in Texas

Guess the folks in Texas are having it rough.  I read on FOX that over 1,000 homes have been lost.  Thousands of families evacuated and many in shelters.  I have met people that live in the area.  Hope they are doing well.  It's sure a tragic loss.  Hope none of our GB family are involved.  Prayers for those involved.

+1 Sourdough. Its hard to imagine 1000 homes being lost to fire and its still raging. Prayers sent from here, too.

We have a couple of fires going on here in NW Louisiana and just across the state line in E. Texas. One fire has burned over several thousand acres and has destoryed several homes.  One report said the State Fire Marshall is looking into the possiblility of one being arson; a dispute over a deer hunting lease. What is wrong with people these days.

I for one was hoping that Hurricane Lee would hit Galveston and go right up through the middle of the state.  Many of my Texas friends hoped the same thing, they could have used that rain.  But no it had to hit New Orleans.  Too bad we don't have a way of moving all that water, or redirecting the clouds.

Rush Limbaugh reported today that there are eleven (11) C-130 fire fighting planes on the ground in California that are based in Texas.  They will not fly because the Obama Administration canceled a contract that didn't like their long-term maintenance plan.  Sheesh.  Couldn't the Governor of Texas pick up the contract?
