Ruger number 1 recoil pad color?

What year did Ruger change from a red recoil pad to a brown one? I have a 1985 mod. and it is red I have a 2002 and it is brown so must be between those years.

I have several and they are all Red. The newest is 1990. That should narrow things down some.
