savage 99 in 303 sav takedown carbine

i just got all the supplies i needed to reload this 303 savage, a takedown 20 inch barreled carbine with a ex bore and in very good over all used condition made in 1925 with tang peep sight. eastbank

Nice 99. I have several, but not a 303 yet. How does it shoot? My 300 and 250 both shoot as well as most of my bolt guns.  You might want to check out the Savage Collectors forum over at 24hr campfire.

with factory win 190gr silver tips it shoots 2-2.5 inch groups at 50yds with the open sights and with the tang peep sight a little better. the tang sight shoots about 3 inches left at 50yds,so i will have to shim it a little to bring it on. there were no malfuctions in 20 rounds and it worked like it should. i will start to reload soon and will try 170 and 150gr round nose and 150 and 180gr pointed bullets too. i would like to get 2000-2200 fps with no signs of pressure and will use what shoots best. eastbank.
