Texas Hogs
« on: July 13, 2011, 10:25:48 AM »
I had a conversation with a gentleman yesterday who buys wild hogs from trappers, he said that since the first of the year he has purchased over 16,000 hogs.  That's one small area North of Stamford, Texas.  He said he was sure of the exact number, but thinks a lady a few miles north of where I leve had purchased a simular amount.  Its good to know the trappers are working to get rid of this pest.

Judging from what I seen on my place last year this could very well be true.  I haven't spent a lot of time looking since November, but at that time we would shoot several each time we were out, we would just leave them for the coyotes or for the other pigs to eat unless we got a small young one.

I know of a hog buyer in Jermyn Tx. who makes a lot of money buying the hogs and reselling them. This year bein so dry and hot may just slow the population down some.
