Shed Hunting

Anyone finding any sheds yet?  I am in southern Illinois and plan on going this weekend.  It will be my first trip out.

Havent found any shed yet here in North Texas . Saw a couple bucks still wearing them . They starting loosing them in December the year before , but not this year. Makes me wonder why some years they shed earlier than others .

It seems like I see a few in late January and a sprinkling in February and then in March I can't stand it and start looking, however, during this period it seems like I kick up a lot of bucks with one or both sides.  I have learned to just discipline myself and wait until the last of March and make sure they have all dropped them.  Over the years I can see no pattern as to why and when they drop them.  It does appear however that the larger bucks are later than the smaller where I live in Kansas

Went down to my land in north central Virginia the other day and found my first one ever.  It was a decent 6 point.  I had to clear some dead trees and it was laying in the middle of the fire road, somewhat chewed up but still pretty nice.  I just can't plunge through the thick stuff in summer because of all the ticks around here, especially these little deer ticks - impossible to find until they've sunk in - but next time I'm down I'll try to walk around that place a little.
