Ruger security six front sight
« on: July 15, 2011, 05:00:35 PM »
Lost the front sight on my Ruger Security Six. Before I lost it it came off three other times. It used to shake back and fort and side ways. It was one with the orange insert. but I will put any back to replace it. Has any one else had this happen. I would like to find one but tried on net with no results. HELP!!! Some one told me the blue works good too.

Don't know if this will help, but here is one:

http://www.gunpartscorp.com/catalog/Detail.aspx?pid=1218200&catid=8353

You could also call Brownell's at 1-800-741-0015 and ask them.

Or, contact Ruger's customer service at www.ruger.com/footer/contact.html and see what they can tell you.

Correct me if I am wrong, but isn't there a roll pin that holds the front sight in place?

I have several security sixes but I am at work and they are at home so I can't look right now, but I thought there was a roll pin.  The roll pin would have to break or fall out before the sight could move or fall out.

Got it replaced at a local gunsmith that had one. Put a roll pin to secure it.

Zacharoo,

 just curious...

Do you have any idea what happened to the roll pin that held the original sight in place? I have never had one break or fall out on any of my speed or service 6's.

Lent it to a family member and got it back that way no pin no sight.. Pin was loose befor as I said. I can't remember if it was a roll pin or not. New one is tight and has a roll pin in now.
