Help with leverguns in 22LR

Mossberg vs Henry

These carbines share similar features and both made in USA.  The Henry costs about $100. LESS than Mossberg.  I've had great luck with my Mossberg 500 shotgun; owned it since 1977.

Please help me decide which to purchase?  My focus is plinking, squirrel & small game hunting.  Shooting limited to about 35 - 45 yards.

Thank you in advance for your replies.

Never handled the Mossberg, but do own a Henry.  The Henry is machined nicely and has beautiful wood.  The action is silky smooth and it shoots straight.  I have the base model H001.  If I were buying a new Henry, I'd look at the H001T with the octagon barrel.  Very cool.

Just got a H001T a week ago.
Already put a brick through it.
High fondle factor.
Like the weight and balance a little better the H001.
Looks more "cowboy" to me, which is important in a lever action 22.
Good open sights.

didn't know Mossberg made one.

Can't help you with either of your two listed choices... never had either of them.   My rimfire levers were a Browning BLR and an early Winchester 94/22.   Didn't care much for the BLR, but loved the 94/22 until I gave it to a friends son who was just starting to shoot.   If I still shot 22RF (I've only shot 17 rimfire since 2002), I'd buy another "old" 94/22 in a heartbeat though.

I've handled both the Mossberg and the Henry, I bought the henry as I thought it was a nicer rifle and felt better to me. Since then I have added another 3 Henry rifles and they all shoot fantastic, no problems with any of them.

I've owned most of the various brands of .22 leverguns, over the years (Browning BL22's, Ruger 96/22, Henry's, Marlin 39a's, & Winchester 9422's - currently owning several .22 leverguns, including two Henrys, a Standard H001 & a Frontier H001T Octagon.

I handled & inspected a new Mossberg in a LGS last Christmas, with an eye toward buying one, and had no likeing for it's tang safety or workmanship.
Additionally, the rear barrel sight was a stamped-out P.O.S.

I don't know about Mossberg, but Henry has the best guarantee in the business.

I would be VERY surprised if you bought a Henry and wasn't happy with it.

I was looking some time ago at several different lever 22's, and now i have three Henrys,

So far, i'm very happy with them,
