Hello, new here. I have a Remington 350Mag 700 Classic (old style) coming, and I plan on ordering a Lee FCD when I get my brass/loading dies ( forget finding factory ammo,ha) I was wondering if I can use the roll crimp of the seating die, although lightly of course, on a bullet w/o a cannelure? (What I like about the FCD the most) I will be Ok on the Remington 200 corlokts crimp groove/overal length. I just don't want any bullet set back as I want to work up loads asap, and it takes Lee a few weeks to make the custom FCD. I am looking at COL of 2.80 or so as the optimum with the longer bullets of 220 and up. Any help is appreciated. (BTW I am "jazzed" about the Classic! Love them)

For bullets with no cannelure the Lee factory crimp die is really good. Lee will make a custom die for you. You need to send a dummy round with the bullet you plan to use and they'll make a die to fit it. Call them and ask about it an they'll tell you what to do and the price with isn't much. I just started with my .350 and I didn't crimp the bullets but I forgot to load the magazine to check for the bullet movement.

My die set is rcbs and yes I do put a crimp on all my 350's. Mine is a model 7 so my overall lenth has to be kept to sugested lenth to fit my magazine area. This little rifle bucks pretty good so the crimp has to be there. I'm shooting siera 225's right now but have tried several others, this was my most acurate bullet. Just a sugestion. stay away from 180 hornady that was a waist of 40 dollars.

Thanks guys, I'm sending off a dummy round to Lee today for FCD and case length trimmer. I know I can use the seating die to crimp both the Remington 200RN and the Barnes 200TTSX, they are both short enough to crimp in their crimp grooves. The Nosler 225 is and the 225 Sierra are both slick. I'll wait until I get the FCD to try them.

Well, ordinarily, I wouldn't, except to keep the bullets from set back during recoil. I plan on trying it both ways. I have found, however, that a good crimp helps the Barnes bullets accuracy in my rifles.

I don't think i've ever crimped a 350 mag. cartridge in my life, and i use RCBS dies.  Like Bill, i'm not into crimping rounds that don't need it!!
