Apathy of Our Church Leaders
« on: July 28, 2011, 11:10:12 AM »
Pastor Chuck Baldwin thinks the biggest reason America is in the shape it is today is because of the apathy of the American church pulpit. I'm not sure he's entirely correct, but I think it's a huge part of it.

I don't really think that US churches are in comparable position to those in 1930s Germany. We don't have a looming dictatorship, no matter what he wingnuts say.

Jesus said we should treat other as we'd want to be treated... and he didn't qualify that by their party affiliation, race, or even if they're of diff religion.

Many Churches have abandoned the "Message of the Cross", and do not even display the Cross as a reminder of the blood sacrifice of Christ. Many Church leaders claim that it is a "negative" to display the Cross, and or, it is of no significance. Without the Cross of Christ, there is no message. At least not a Christian message. Of course the Mormon and the Jehovah Witness don't either. Hmmmmm

Interesting.  A modern revivalist protestant's exegesis on the bankruptcy of modern revivalist protestantism.  Throw in the creeping unitarianism (arianism) that many are embracing, and you have quite a mess.

I'll try and make this clear! There has been a lot of flaming, bickering, and name calling on this forum, and as one of the moderators on here it's my responsibility to curtail it. I have no desire or right to keep anyone from voicing an opinion. That's what the forum is all about. If anyone thinks I'm being unfair and suppressing free speech,  then by all means take it to the Adm.

Sorry I hijacked my own thread, but this snide remark needed to be addressed.

uh, I was taken to task for flaming when all it was is being passionate about God and country.
now you post an article by a preacher who says, more or less, that we should BE flaming to wake up this country.
I could add a lot of things to the article, but I would also like to stay at GBO.

It is my opinion that apathy for the church started when Pastors water down the Gospel. When all you teach is God loves you no matter what and not teach that as a Christian you need to live by example and do your best to emulate Christ.
One sacrifce for all. The guilt of all placed upon One. Pastors really have a hard time teaching that we are not worthy of God's greatest gifts but we get them only through grace. We are born in sin, we by are very nature are sinners and our righteousness is but filthy rags. Then comes Grace through Christ and that makes us right with God. It is not politically correct to teach that each of us have blood guilt on our hands. When we realiaze what we have done and go to Christ then only can we recieve that redemption. It is much easier to fill the church and more importantly the offering plate when you don't put responsibilty at any individual feet. Just sugar coat it, the offering plate will fill up.
The Gospels were written for a reason and Paul penned alot of good stuff on his way to Rome for a reason. When churches don't teach these things they do get full offering plates but they also get people without a true relationship with the Savior.

OT- I think the mods do a good job here.

As long as you talk to and about the subject matter and not to or about each other you'll be fine. It's when you start talking about each other and name calling that you violate the rules.
