8" Seige Howitzers
« on: June 21, 2011, 12:31:26 PM »
The 1841 & 1861 Seige Howitzers having caught my interest lately , I started to think why not a set in 1/8 scale .

The 1" 1841 Seige Howitzer .

Next time the 1861 .

Good lookin'  !!

Do we see a trend in design here (of everything) - the approximate largest dimensions will match those of the inside of flat-rate boxes?

Received my 8" siege mortar from HMR Cannons.  Quality work.
I wore Confederate Gray back in the day

Double D I believe it is the same size as Triple D's ( with a one inch bore). Now I need to figure out what to shoot out of it!

Double D yours is bigger than mine! But it's not the size that counts, it's how you use it! I don't have any molds nor do I have any lead, yet. I just want to fire salutes for now then maybe on down the line get a mold and melting pot. I do like your piece. :)

Yes it is bigger, but that doesn't mean its better, only bigger.  In fact Ed's one inch gun like yours, that Ed is donating as a door prize for the  Montana cannon shot came to day and I would not be displeased if I were to get lucky and win it.

I now have a cannon from each our Sponsors.

I am not sure yet.  I know there are examples of this being on a Marsilley carriage for Navel carriage.  But its primary use was on the siege carriage and I am leaning towards that, including building my own wheels.
