Did you read those books, Powderman, or did you read what someone else wrote about them?
Jesus said we should treat other as we'd want to be treated... and he didn't qualify that by their party affiliation, race, or even if they're of diff religion.

Powderman;
  Know what you mean..his culture/character show through, perhaps more than he intended..I would never buy any of his books but excerpts are available everywhere, and our local library has copies on hand.  I wouldn't be seen checking any out..but I read all I wanted to know, right there in the library.

  Now; just for sake of argument, let's say you're a prisoner forced to pick your 'torture' by choosing which line you  will fall into.
  One line is labelled "skinning, burning & beheading", while the other is labeled "waterboarding & panties on your head"..

  Which line would you choose ?  :o

You are overlooking an important aspect in you Post.

This is a simple decision from a Western point of view. Nobody likes the first choice. However these people don't have the Western point of view. For them IMO it is an assault on their religion and culture which has higher value then any physical damage up to including Death.
What is the point of Life if you can't have fun.

Sounds like a good idea to use these animals supersticions against them.
99% of all Lawyers give the other 1% a bad name. What I find hilarious about this is they are such an arrogant bunch, that they all think they are in the 1%.
