Green Mountain Barrel

What do I shoot in a Green Mountian .50 carbine ['21] with a 1:28 twist ? I would estimate using a maxi with that twist.  GM sez on the web site that it is optimum for the patched ball. Don't add up? It should arrive 7/30. We will see.

250 grain .452 Hornady XTP or Speer Deep Curl in a Harvester short black sabot (H5045SB) with anything around 80 to 95 grains of powder.  You will be happy.

Could you use a cast bullet in a sabot? I have only shot sabots in centerfire. Until now, just balls and maxxis. I will get some sabots, I think I have some XTP bullets 240 or 250

I am having great results with the RCBS bullet made for the 500 S&W in mine, as well as the Lee 500 S&W bullet paper patched, or a NEI 500gr. paper patch bullet. With PP I get better accuracy, but need to wipe between shots. The RCBS bullet carries lots of lube and allows 5 good shots before needing to wipe. Better for hunting, paper patch is better at the range. This is one of the fast twist carbine barrels just like yours, on a Renegade.
