For years it has been said that corruption ran rampant with the police officers in Mexico. I guess in today's climate it is cheaper for the drug lords to kill them instead of bribing them.

Mexico would be a perfect place for me to start my dictatorship of the world. Once in my control taking over the neighbors to the north would be as easy as walking across the border. Bwahahahahaha. ;D

If Mexico wants to end their problems with drug cartels all they need to do is place a bounty on the heads of all the members of these cartels and relax their gun laws so that their citizens can be armed. Or they could sell cartel safaris . ;)

what are mexicos gun laws?i know at one time they were not allowed to have any military type caliber.im assumeing they are so restrictive that the general population cant really protect therselves. or they are so poverty stricken they cant afford a gun to protect therselves.either could be the problem.

Their constitution allows gun ownership, but the government severely restricts it. If you are a rich person, odds are more favorable to be able to carry in a city. Even then 380 diameter and under. 357 mag and 9mm para are illegal. You can't buy a pistol from an individual, has to come from a dealer.
If you live in a rural area and are a farm worker or the like there is a chance you can own a .22 rifle, a shotgun or a 380 or under pistol. It is illegal to buy or sale a pistol unless from an authorized dealer. The average income is about 5k, so doubtful that most could buy one anyhow. Over 380 pistols and most centerfire rifle calibers are considered military and therefore illegal.
