Powder chamber
« on: August 04, 2011, 05:50:46 PM »
About ready to weld my powder chamber 6x6 in to my trunnion  and fit it inside of my 3AA2400 welding tank. I used the bottom of the tank that I had left over from my last bowling ball mortar and cut a 6 in. hole in it for the chamber. I see that after fitted there will be 1 3/8  between the chamber and tank walls and about 6 in. up  from the bottom. Is this to be filled up or dose it hurt anything . Whats yous do, Thanks- Joe

You could fill it with lead or zinc but that would increase the weight a lot.

It will be all I can do is put it in the truck like it is as its the same wt. as the other one, How about sand after I get it set up and then dump it out, Just dont look right with all the space around it, Bored it so I can put up to 4 oz. of powder in the chamber. Thanks- Joe

What doesn't look right?  Aesthetics or safety.

Here's one made like yours, do you see a problem?

All you have made is a small with ball sitting on the muzzle.  The barrel is holding the ball on the muzzle nothing more.  You can fill the space like George says or just shoot as is.   If you made a proper weld everything will be fine.

Just wanted to make sure it was  saft. Just looks wierd with nothing around it and below it. I really dont need any more weight for loading and unloading out of the truck. Thanks for the help, Joe

As long as you made a good solid weld it should be fine
