I think you could ream either a Handi 357 mag/max or 35 remington barrel to .358 Win.   The 35 Whelen chamber is larger than the 358 W so that wouldn't work.  I suppose any 357/358 barrel blank would work for a stub or liner project if the OD, length and twist rate are good for your application.

The twist rate on the .357 MAG barrel is 1:15 1/2" and the .35 Rem is 1:16", so either one would work. A MAG barrel could be purchased at a length of 18 3/4". ;)  I would recommend having a rim counterbore cut so that you could also shoot .356 Win ammo. The brass is thicker and would allow more solid support of the case against the impact of the firing pin. The rim could help with accuracy and reliability.
