For the small bore guns, a bunch of one gallon jugs of red food colored water would go a long way for dramatic affect.  Otherwise, you won't see much.  You are not likely to see a .50 caliber hole in a pallet at 200 yards.  But an exploding red blast would get everyone cheering.

I have thought about this at length...and the solution has me thinking about 2013.  The SAMCC at their Christmas shoot builds a castle out of foam board.

Those "windows" are really light steel plates.  Hot one of these and they are driven through the foam making a bi hole.

The kids really liked to shoot this event.

Mr president I do not cling to either my gun or my Bible.... my gun is holstered on my side so I may carry my Bible and quote from it!

If that is sitting on the range now, how many holes will it contain by the 21st?   ;D

Good point George....Saturday morning the 20th when we start shooting, these will be the first shoots fired in our range.

The dirt work is not done and we don't know when it will be done. We have been promised that the firing line will be graded before the shoot.  Great if it happens.

There are only few things I can guarantee, the most important is that you will have a great time...nothing else is important...

Thank you Allen.  If the cannon-making duo could not take advantage of this unique confluence of delayed experiments,  things big kids love to see and a sturdy, almost indestructible fort, then they deserve a vote of 'no confidence'!  With the permission of the shoot organizer, the power of the petard will be shown, if the fort still stands after the final fusillade.  Video?  Definitely!

Do I need to build a fortress gate so you can hoist your own petard?

No need for a fortress gate, DD, but you might consider reinforcing the roof to protect the structure against assault from above by flying orbs of space-age plastic!  I'm thinking of an extra long double fuse for the late 1700s Petard that we will be bringing so we WILL NOT be hoisted!  Instead of the traditional gate shot, I am considering a "corner shot" at 45 degrees.  Because these ancient devices use no missile, this angular attack should not be any less safe than a cloud of cannon balls impacting the front of this outpost of the Evil Empire.
