Enfield #5 Jungle Carbine
« on: September 07, 2011, 03:53:19 PM »
I found one in very good condition with a perfect bore for $300.  Is this a good price?  What are they going for nowadays?

I don't know what they're going for lately but do you want another one? The proceeds will help pay for surgery to repair the rotator cuff damage I've suffered from shooting it over the years.  :D

   Beautiful to look at.

   Handy to carry.

But,  . . . the worse rifle you will ever shoot.  So bad that they were discontinued by the British after just one year in service.  (Declared obsolete.)

Here in Ontario Canada 300.00 dollars for a 303 B with a very good bore and wood would be a steel .
The 303 Mark 5 was known to have a wondering Zero ,some say because they used a lighter reciever than what was on the Mark 4 .

Some Mark 4's were cut down and restocked  to look like the Jungle carbine which then could be sold for the higher priced Mark 5 .So I guess if you found one of these Fake mark 5's you have a good shooter .

Victor If you were in Canada I would gladly buy your Mark 5 carbine . Looks like a very nice unit .

I remember racks of originals in VG-EX condition selling for $25 back in the late 60's!  Regular Enfields were under $20.  $300 today is a real if it's 'right' - not a cutdown.
