308 OAL

Looking to reload 308 for semiauto rifle. Going to use 150 grain winchester pp bullets. I have three different manuals they give three different OAL. Would like to have some input here.

I guess I would first measure the magazine to see that the  OAL given by the manual will fit.

Then I would also get a Stoney Point or like tool and measure my rifle's OAL with that bullet.

  For a auto the magazine will determine your OAL max. length but some guns will shoot better with slightly shorter seated bullets and only shooting the gun will tell you....make sure that you load the magazine completely full to test the OAL as some magazines get a little shorter at the bottom of the mag and for a hunting gun you want reliable feeding over that last tenth smaller group........good luck and good shooting!

Yeh, I found out the hard way that it does not do you any good to measure the chamber for OAL if it ends up being longer than the rifle's magazine. :eek:
