I have used it with jacketed bullets in rifle cases.  I don't actually shoot hardly any cast bullets.  You might check out the "Unique question" thread.

I use it in my 223 with 45gr hornet bullets to duplicate  22/22mag velocities.Works great.
XLI the one to go with.

Coupla years ago, I emailed Hodgdon about using  Trail Boss for reduced loads with jacketed bullets in my .460 X-Frame and they said it was safe. Altho their reduced load recipe calls for a minimum of 70% of case capacity, I never went below 90% for fear of a stuck bullet. They shot fine, but since the loads printed so much different than standard loads, and cost about the same to make, I gave up on it.

I've used it in the 45 LC Carbine under a 225 grain FTX with decent results.

I do the same thing as 223fan, getting 1900 fps and a nice little squirrel cartridge.  As buck460xvr noted, it does change the point of impact, so I dial my scope up or down depending on the ammo I'm using.  I use the trailboss loads for plinking because my gun (H&R handi rifle) is prone to overheating and losing accuracy after shooting 5 or 6 rounds.  With these light loads I can shoot all afternoon without worrying about loss of accuracy.

Many people choose Trail Boss for reduce velocity and recoil jacketed and cast bullet load in rifles and pistols because it's very bulky and it eliminates the possibility of a double charge  compared to shotgun and pistol powder for reduced load.
