I think I found a great source!
« on: August 12, 2011, 09:36:16 AM »
I was looking for a replacement or other source for Wonderwad prelube wads for muzzeloading shooting, and stumbled on this:

John Walters of Moore, Oklahoma makes a high quality vegetable fibre wad for those of you who don't like to cut your own.  John's products are uniform, pre-cut Vegetable Fibre Wads for Black Powder Rifle Shooting.  They are available in any Caliber from .25 up to 10 guage, in the following four (4) thicknesses:  .010, .015, .030, .060.  The wads are priced at $20.00 plus $1.00 Shipping per 1,000 wads.   John also has Pure Tin available - $6.00/lb
1 LB. Bars - Certified Weight & Purity.  Contact John at:
John Walters
500 N. Avery Dr.
Moore, Oklahoma 73160
(405) 799-0376
Anyway, I called him and not only does he sell the wads, (including 45 long colt which should work quite well for my pietta 1858 remington revolvers) but he also sells tin (which is now 19$ per lb due to continual price increases on the metal and SOFT lead scrap which is he getting from as leftovers from a manufacturing process which is currently 1.50 a lb).  I spoke with Mr. Walters on the phone just now... seemed very nice and down to earth.  Hes going to send me my order, and then invoice me for it.... letting me check out his product before buying.  Talk about trust.  The hell with Ebay for scrap lead.  I'm going to get my needs filled with this guy.
If you order from him, mention 'JP from Virginia' had gotten the word out.  I dont get any cutback or anything from it, I just told him he strikes me as top notch, and I would let people know.
Do a google search on "Walter's Wads"  several very nice things have been written about him.

Hangfire, nice advertisement for John Walters.  He has been a known and recognized retailer of his products to BPCR & C&B shooters for many years.  Glad you found him though

Do have to ask re: his Sn prices you posted.  One place you posted $6.00 per lb and then further down $19 per lb.  I'm looking at John's ad in the August 2011 issue of The Single Shot Exchange ... Sn (tin) for $10 per lb plus shipping with ad marked (10/11) meaning prices good through October 2011.

Are you sure you have the correct price for John Walters tin price?
Regards
John Boy

Don't know what John's tin price is but 50lbs of 20-1 alloy and 2 bags of .446 wads was a 153$ last week. ;)
In the 1920's "sheeple" was a term coined by the National Socialist Party in Germany to describe people that would not vote for Hitler. In the 1930's they held Hitler as the only one that would bring pride back to Germany and bring the budget and economy back.....
